Howdy, PK here, I just wanted to give an update of the awesome and wonderful things God is doing in the lives of the teenagers here at GYC and GHFC.
In case you didn’t know or forgot, we have made the move over to our modular building and we have slowly been updating it to make it into the youth room and it is coming right along. It isn’t complete yet but it is a good work in progress. We installed track lights, some pinspot lights, some colored lamps, and etc… We also set up the drums, piano, bass amp, sound system, and all of those things for worship as well.
We also have it all set up for worship lyrics to go up on the TV that is mounted on the wall and we have a computer that is set up to record the sermons, a DVD player for music videos and other DVD needs and the sound system is all set up to run the worship team’s sound. It is pretty cool! If you haven’t been over there for a while, sneak a peek when you are at the church and if you are going to the adult Bible study/prayer/worship time on Wednesdays, come a few minutes early and just have a look so you can see the place where the teenagers are worshiping God! Here are some pics of the lights and a pic of the kids!

Here are the kid’s hanging out at GYC.
So. It is great to have a youth room that the teenagers have to themselves and it is great that we have young people that are there. But what is God doing in their lives?
I have been extremely encouraged over these past few weeks to see the things God is doing in their lives. We are going through the entire book of Acts right now and are part way through chapter 5. That in itself is a big step for a lot of these kids because it is something that they can only understand with the help of the Holy Spirit, and let me tell you, He is definitely helping them! I have never seen these youth so passionately worshiping God, diving into and intently listening to the Word, and then pray in groups afterwords to really take the Word and apply to their lives in a practical fashion.
Since the start of this sermon series, and primarily over the last 3 weeks, I have seen at least 6 new people come here and all of them have been impacted by what God is doing here. We have some people from our church that hadn’t come to GYC yet and have started coming and they are loving it. They are entering into worship and being fed by the Word of God.
But get this, we have people that are coming that just showed up on a Wednesday night on time and have been there ever since. One young man, who first came 3 weeks ago, came and didn’t really know anyone beyond acquaintances from school or what not and I don’t know what his background with church is yet or not but the first night he came, I could tell it was God that brought Him here. Instantly he connected with one of the youth leaders and this young guy is SO EXTREMELY HUNGRY for Jesus Christ! Right after that GYC service, he came to Grounded the following Sunday and He is still coming to GYC. Last night he brought a Bible and when the youth leader he connected with was seeing how he was doing and just asked him if he got to read his Bible much, he replied by saying “Every chance I get!”.
So there is a huge correlation between the book of Acts and the way the Holy Spirit moved through the Apostles and in the lives of the people and what He is doing at GYC. People are coming and getting hit head on with the power of the Holy Spirit and it is awesome. I believe this has come through an obedience and trust in the Lord on my part, on the leaders part, and most definitely the teenagers’ obedient response to what the Holy Spirit is challenging them with inside their hearts. IT IS HUGE! I am so excited to see what God is doing in their lives and it is so great to see the fruit of the ministry that God has called me to sow into.
So, if you could keep all of this in prayer. Pray that the kids who have come get plugged in and discipled and that in the future, when they are standing firmly upon the foundation of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior that they disciple people too. Pray that God continues to raise up people of this generation of young people to come to know Him. Pray that they make connections with these youth leaders and most importantly, with God.
I am so excited to be able to witness first-hand what God is doing in their lives and I am pumped to be a part of it. So pray that we continue to humble ourselves and allow God to do great work in the lives of the teenagers of Grays Harbor County. Praise the Lord!
